Hi there, my name is Jack Walsh, and I specialise in gig photography and promo shoots. My goal is simple. I want to showcase your unique musical talents. I believe that everyone should have the right to see the hard work and dedication you put into every gig or shoot. I am currently looking to enhance my portfolio and build new experiences with bands across the north-west region.
How I Got Into Music Photography
I have always been a musician and watching bands live has always been my favourite past time. So pretty much every gig I went to I always managed to get a couple photos of the bands performing, in which I’d then upload for others to view and comment on. This went on for about a year or two till a couple of my friends joined together and created their own band named ‘Tourist Attractions’. From this I became their official photographer. It started off with me just using my camera phone, as this had been my go too for gigs, as at the time it was all just a bit of fun for me. This carried on till the day I decided I wanted to progress further within my photography and bought my first camera. Since then I have photographed in places including the 02 Apollo, Manchester Academy, Sound Control, King George’s Hall and Gulliver’s.
My photos have also been used by varies Manchester publications including the likes of Louder Than War for an article about the band Holy Matrimony. A link to that can be found here.
Skills and Equipment
I have vast experience in the programs Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom. I use both Photoshop and Lightroom on a regular basis for my photography.
My current equipment consists of the Canon 70d Body, Canon 50mm 1.8 lens and the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 Lens.
